Announcing ROGUE ORIGINS, a Reading Series in Partnership With the Washington Rogues

would-be roomThe Washington Rogues are proud to announce a new producing partnership with BloomBars, the renowned Columbia Heights community arts center.  This monthly series will bring staged readings of new plays by exciting up-and-coming writers to the Columbia Heights neighborhood.

The Rogues embrace BloomBars’ mission to create a safe space for all members of the community to enjoy the performing arts. Accepting this mission as a great challenge and opportunity, the Rogue Origins series will feature performances accessible to the whole family while still retaining our mission to present challenging, edgy works that will entertain and inspire.

Opening the series is The Would Be Room by Jennifer Lane, a bittersweet romance with a unique perspective on love, life, and what comes after. Star-crossed lovers Claire and Jonah meet in Limbo. But before they can move on they’ll need to confront the secrets of their past, paths untaken, and the depths of their feelings for each other.

A Focus on Local Writers:

The ROGUE ORIGINS series will focus on on works by local playwrights, part of the Rogues’ continuing commitment to developing new plays within the local playwright community.  Writers from the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virgina are encouraged to submit their scripts to submissions@washingtonrogues.org
