Chelsea McBee is a Shepherdstown, WV native. She began playing her banjo and writing songs about 5 yrs ago but has always had a creative outlet of some sort from dancing as a girl to acting at Duke Ellington School for the Arts. “What I’m doing now is just the next step. It feels great!”
Chelsea started by learning some traditional WV tunes from a good friend and has continued to use the old-time sound to influence her style. Artists like Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, Kathleen Edwards, Ani Difranco and Regina Spektor are always playing in the background of Chelsea’s day.
Other projects include performing with The Lady Dies, an alt-country, rock, gypsy-style band based in Shepherdstown, and sharing the stage with fellow singer/songwriter Bob Keel.
