Help Mold “the Shape of Hip-Hop to Come” with the Cornel West theory

As you might be aware, we, The Cornel West Theory, are gearing up for our special performance series at BloomBars on July 1-3.

thecornelwesttheory4Over three nights, we will perform material old and new for our the Cornel West theory: Live at BloomBars DVD. As we prepare to release our new album – “The Shape of Hip-Hop to Come” on July 19 – with our favorite arts incubator/miracle grow for artists, BloomBars.

We have 10 days remaining before the close of our donation campaign and hope you find room in your budget to help make this dream come true.

Just a $15 donation gets you an advance copy of the DVD.

We are asking you: Please give whatever you can spare to offset the expense of creating, manufacturing and delivering this project.

It’s our story and we want you to be a part of it.

Thus far we’re pleased to have raised $485, but we hope to raise another $1,000 before Friday, July 1st.

We also invite you to be a part of this historic event. We will honor any donation made in person and provide the same perks presented in the campaign such as a copy of the DVD or a copy of our upcoming album or a T-shirt.

This is an exciting and significant time for our band. We grew up in D.C. and have been together since 2004. Our music consists of lyricism, spoken word, vocals, live instruments and electronics, while drawing from homegrown go-go to rock to hip-hop.

Our latest album was created out of an appreciation for several music genres – hip-hop, jazz, punk, blues, go-go, rock – and takes its name from Ornette Coleman’s “The Shape of Jazz to Come” and Refused’s “The Shape of Punk to Come.”

We’ve worked for nine months on this project, making BloomBars our home in the process. This space helped shape elements of our sound and holding a successful concert series means a great deal to us.

Please support our growth as artists, evolution as a band, and dreams of creating something that will not only stand the test of time, but transcend it.
