The Heem Team is a collective of like minded individuals who strive for the fundamental purpose of providing and preserving art that doesn’t subscribe to “culture categorization.” Heem Team is an ongoing experiment.
The concept stemmed from a sudden revelation between founding members Malik “Marty” Hodge and Eugene “Geno” Yarborough where they found that art should be created without the hindrance of appealing to a certain demographic or to fit in with the trend. The Heem Team simply creates for the purpose of creation.
The Heem Team creates in the artistic fields of spoken-word poetry, rap, photography, videography, live instrumentation, fashion design, graphic design, graffiti, and more.
The event will feature the following:
- Hip hop by Malik Hodge and Chris Scott
- Jazz music by the Allan Jones Quartet
- Paintings by Javean and Photography by Nile
- Short Film by Zachary Clare
