In December of 2005, Washington, DC native, Kenny Allen left the US for Ethiopia, to team up for an initial six-month residency with the veteran 4 Star Band at Addis Ababa’s, Harlem Jazz. 7 years later he is still there, leading some of the top modern bands in Ethiopia.

Having toured the world with renowned recording artists Me’Shell Ndegeocello and Raheem Devaughn, Kenny Allen currently maintains a busy schedule as a budding producer of his fledgling company EARco (East African Recording Company) founded in 2006 in Addis Ababa. Through EARco, Kenny Allen has produced albums for among others, Ethiopia-based Jamaican reggae singer, Sydney Salmon,  Zimbabwean hip-hop artist Tendai, Ethiopian Folk Legend Gash Abera Molla, and Ethiopian born, Armenian- heritaged singer Vahe Tilbian. Kenny Allen has also recently collaborated with popular Ethiopian singer Jonny Ragga.

The sound of the Band, accentuates the singer’s experiences in Ethiopia, with songs in multiple Ethiopian national languages, infused with Allen’s native influences of Jazz/Funk/R&B and Soul; narrating a universal story of the happier possibilities of cultural contact.
