Sunrise Cinema: New Year’s Eve Edition

Saturday, January 1st at 2:30 am – 6:00 am (New Year’s Eve)

BloomBars will be holding a special edition of Sunrise Cinema, as featured in DailyCandy, on New Year’s Eve to prevent drivers from taking to the streets during one of the most dangerous nights to drive, and to give those stuck without a cab someplace warm and calm to wait for their ride.

Scary Facts about Driving on New Year’s Eve:

  • Someone driving on Sunday morning at 3 am (sober or not) has a risk of being killed in traffic 134 times greater than someone driving at 10 am on a Sunday morning.
  • In an average year, more people were killed in the United States on Saturday and Sunday from midnight to three am than all those who were killed from midnight to three am the rest of the week. Just two nights account for the majority of the week’s deaths.
  • Someone 2.9 times over the BAC limit would be 20 times more likely than a sober driver to crash
  • More people are killed on the roads each month than were killed in the September 11th attacks

New Year’s Eve is one of the most dangerous nights to be driving. sunrise-cinema-film-screenEven if you’re taking a cab, it can take hours waiting in freezing weather to secure a ride home. What can you do after the party’s over?

After you’ve finished your evening out on New Year’s Eve, BloomBars opens its doors to prevent drivers, impaired or not, from taking to the streets, and let night owls enjoy their evening for a bit longer.

The audience selects several movies and we show them on the BloomBars big screen. We are also looking for stand-up comedians and other performers to entertain our audience.

We request a donation of $10 to help us cover the cost of this service, however, we will not turn anyone away for lack of funds – our goal is to provide a safe, calm place for people to relax before driving home.

Volunteers and Performers Wanted! Please contact info (at) bloombars (dot) com to learn more.
