BloomBars Hosts Closing Reception for Silent Auction Exhibition

Nonprofit Raises Profiles of Local Artists while Raising Funds to Connect the Community and the Arts

Washington DC – November 30th, 2010 – The BloomBars Gallery hosts the closing reception to its first silent auction exhibition on Thursday, December 2, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

BloomBars, a not-for-profit organization located in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, DC, is raising funds to continue its mission of uniting & inspiring communities through the arts, while nurturing artists committed to serving the community. BloomBars accomplishes this goal by offering donation-based music performances, dance classes, youth programs, issues-based film screenings, and more. BloomBars also provides emerging artists with a platform to highlight their art via live performances at BloomBars and other locations, the BloomTV online video channel,  the Weekly Bloom eNewsletter, and more.

Thursday’s closing reception features a diverse array of works, all of which are open to bidding, such as a photograph of the late jazz singer Abbey Lincoln by Gediyon Kifle, paintings by Charles Jean-Pierre, traditional Indian-style Madhubani paintings by Neha Misra, several works of varying sizes by J. Coleman, woven silk shawls from the central Malagasy highlands with complementary photographs of the weavers by Jack Gordon, and even a private tap or salsa lesson by BloomBars’ resident tap instructor Melissa Frakman.

Additional items are available from established and emerging artists Fabiano Amin, Katie Campbell, Sala Kannan, Serinity Knight, Jamie Nicholas, Craig Tinsky, Jonathan Tucker, and many more.
