He’s also the same dynamo who organizes the Mount Pleasant Children's Puppet Hour. SS&P starts on Friday, January 20th. Stay around afterwards for some time to socialize with other parents and kids! | 19Events on May 19, 2012 Kids Capoeira (Bilingual/Bilingue; Age 8 to 18) Starts: 9:00 am Description: Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art disguised as a dance and performed to music. It is comprised of specific offensive and defensive movements and, in contrast to other martial arts, the participant is constantly in motion. In addition to movement, students learn to play the traditional music of Capoeira.
Contra Mestre Bomba has been teaching the art of Capoeira for more than 20 years. Beginners should wear loose fitting clothing and light footwear. Instructor Bomba speaks limited English but students can easily follow by example, and Spanish speakers will be able to practice speaking and communicating; learning capoeira readily.
$10 donation per student.

HARAMBE! (6mos to 6-years old) Starts: 10:00 am Description: In Swahili, Harambe means “All pull together.” At BloomBars, Harambe is the practice of hope, possibility and compassion – basically, all the things that happen when we all come together. Think of it as your little one’s first opportunity to express his or her voice (into a microphone), dance, play a drum or percussion instrument, shout, or sing-along to songs that build character, confidence and community.
With more than 10 years of experience in youth development, education and conflict resolution, program instructor Baba Ras D’s “Harambe” is a morning jolt of inspiration for parents, caregivers and children.
Parental consent required. Participation is a $7-10 donation per session or $100 for 12 sessions.
