PAST EVENT: Keep BloomBars in Play with Carolyn Malachi and the WNBA

Dear Friends of Bloombars,

Watching the Team USA Women’s Basketball squad crush Olympic opponents makes me remember my time as a baller. I played basketball at Elizabeth Seton High School, worked evenings and summers as honorary ball girl for the Washington Mystics and Washington Wizards, then earned academic and athletic scholarships to attend Shepherd University. Heavy footed and short for my Center position, I executed hard, scrappy defense to survive in the paint.

Countless practice hours, grueling workout programs, and neverending road trips are still par for the course. These days I have musicians for teammates, and we practice at BloomBars. To many, BloomBars is an artist and non-profit incubator, performance space, art gallery, theater, dance studio, screening room, youth academy, and center for health, wellness, and community engagement. To me, it’s home court.

On September 4th, enjoy a special evening with BloomBars, the WNBA, and me at the Verizon Center. I will sing the National Anthem to kick off the Washington Mystics’ game vs. the Connecticut Sun. Use the link below to buy discounted game tickets and to help keep the arts in play at BloomBars. That’s right! If you buy your ticket through THIS LINK, a large percentage of ticket sales will go back to support programs at BloomBars!
