About the Instructors, Margaret Beardsworth and William Sanchez:
With a passion for organic dance, Margaret Beardsworth has found a home within the D.C. Latin dance community as dancer, performer and instructor.
Margaret’s love affair with bachata began as an undergraduate student in Miami, FL, but it was her experience working and volunteering in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic that exposed her to traditional bachata. Since living in the Dominican Republic, Margaret has continued to dance bachata socially, experimenting with different styles and moves.
Margaret also performs and teaches with DC Casineros, the area’s premier Rueda de Casino (Cuban) dance troupe. She brings her experience in Latin dance as well as a cultural and historical perspective to each of her classes.
William Sánchez discovered his passion for dance at the age of 7 when he started performing in school events, folkloric dances for carnavales, and family reunions in his native El Salvador. Upon coming to the US, he began teaching others about the dances he had learned in El Salvador, launching his journey as dance teacher, performer and cultural ambassador.

Recognized for his energetic spirit, William’s philosophy is that anyone can find their inner rhythm and dance, as long as they set their mind and heart to it. This philosophy has distinguished him as one of Washington, DC’s most talented yet approachable dancers.
True to his philosophy, William has made a name for himself choreographing notable dance sets for quinceañeras (Sweet 15 celebrations) while educating the community of the history behind the quinceañera. He is also a principal dancer for DC Casineros, the area’s premier Rueda de Casino (Cuban) dance troupe, with whom he teaches and performs both popular and folkloric Cuban dances.
William has also taught salsa at Langley Park Community Center and has danced with SCAM (Salsa Casino at the University of Maryland), one of the DC area’s pioneer Rueda de Casino groups.
